We had an excellent cream tea at Clumber Park on Monday – our second visit of the year. I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves.
There are many things I could say about the National Trust, and they wouldn’t all be compliments, but they do know how to put on a good cream tea. At Clumber they may have staffing issues, as we’ve found on both visits, but the teas, when you eventually get them, are excellent.
To be fair, if you take scones, jam and cream it should be hard to get it wrong. On both visits the food has been excellent but the service has stuttered a bit.
There is actually a Cream Tea event coming up –

More Cream teas at Clumber
That’s a dedicated if confused country, to have National Cream Tea Day be stretched along three days–
It’s like dog years – 3 cream tea days equal one ordinary day. π
Interesting wallpaper. I love a cream tea!
It could be a little more restrained…
π
I expect you to be there π
π
Oh, if only I lived close enough to go to that cream tea!!!!
π
I don’t like clotted cream. The word Sounds a turn off. ‘Clotted’.
I know what you mean, but I forced myself to like it. π
National Cream Tea Day sounds like a wonderful thing, Quercus and Julia! Now if only there was a fish & chips day, too. It is very hard to get good fish & chips here. π
Life has been in the summer work fast lane here, Quercus and Julia, and I am sorry to have been away and just be diving in again. I am off to harp guitar retreat soon here too, and my own June post may not be until early July. Stay well, and stay out of the hospital. π
Apparantly our National Fish and Chip day was on 1st June. I missed that. π
I had a worse cafe experience than you today which must be a record.
I just read that post. I was sorry to hear how you were treated – it seems very poor service, and very disruptive to the cycling. We went for lunch in Whitby today and Julia asked them to put salad in our sandwiches. Salad!
That’s two meals for the price of one.
Yes, one that I wanted and one that I didn’t.
