Volucella inanis
This a hornet mimicking hoverfly which gets as far North (currently) as Nottinghamshire, so we’re on the edge of the territory. Click on the link above for more information.
Roesel’s Bush Cricket – Metrioptera roeseli
Another species where we’re on the edge of the range. Seen it for the last two years. This one has a few spots of water on it because I flushed it out whilst watering in the polytunnel.
Southern Hawker (Aeshna cyanea)
Our first dragonfly in the garden. It’s nice to think it might be the result of the small pond we put in..
