I recently started playing internet Scrabble to improve my brains, then Othello, then Nine Men’s Morris. Then I realised it was procrastination, not education.:-)

Yes, it would be silly to risk burning out so soon in the process.
Your date order just freaks me out. But if we could never get together on the metric system thing, I guess this is a thing we will also have to never agree upon.
Day, month, year. Simple. But if you want to use another system feel free. It’s only a problem for the first twelve days of the month, 🙂
