We were having a laugh about Julia’s bad back and the “in sickness and in health” part of the wedding vows a couple of days ago (bearing in mind that she spent six months running round after me last year).
You should never tempt fate.
On Thursday, after overdoing things in the garden she went to her second job in the Leisure Centre, but had to ring for a lift home as she was unable to sit at her desk due to the back pain.
We spent the evening applying hot water bottles and anti-inflammatories, but it was just as bad this morning.
The doctor fitted her in this morning and I took time off from the new job to take her down and bring her back (I am not a model employee). She is currently furnished with painkillers and muscle relaxants, and I am in charge of providing a constant supply of hot water bottles.
I’m back from work now and she is catching up on her sleep.
I’ll be back later, but for now I’m off to boil a kettle…
Best wishes to Julia and I hope she feels better soon. I have had a pain in my back for the past couple of days but unlike Julia I am still able to get about. Unfortunately, I’m walking like Groucho Marx minus the moustache and cigar.
I hope it clears up soon – it’s a real nuisance even if you can get about. Julia is starting to show some signs of improvement but II’m going to have to work hard on stopping her doing too much too soon.
Difficult coping with a determined partner.
It is. I take it you have experience… 🙂
My husband, I am glad to say, is quite amenable though he might not say the same about me! My father used to complain about my mother and now that I have to look after her more and more I can empathise with him!
🙂 What goes round, comes around, as they say.
😀 Yes!
Sorry to read this, Quercus. Maybe a ball and chain would stop Julia overdoing things.
I’ve been holding her back for years, but it doesn’t seem to slow her down.
Back pain. Ugh. I hope she feels better soon. Hot water bottles are amazing things!
Yes, they seem to be as good as anything.
Hope Julia feels better soon! I’m rooting for her!
Slightly better, but it comes and goes.
In a word…acupuncture. Been there with the back pain, kind of an on again/off again permanent feature, and it helped immensely.
I will pass the idea on. 🙂
Bad backs are the work of the devil. I hope that your care works wonders for her.
I think the pills are doing more good than I am. There’s only so much you can do with tea and hot water bottles.
Oh, I’m so sorry to hear. Back pain can be so debilitating. Glad she has you to take good care of her.
I keep telling her that. 🙂
Get well soon! Tricky things, backs.
Thanks – I’ll pass it on. 🙂
Best wishes, and make the kettle big enough for hot water bottles plus a cuppa or two!
🙂 We do have a big kettle…
I call that being prepared for almost anything!
If I had a kettle with a light on I would be ready for anything. 🙂
Especially one that winds up or is solar–
I have some wind up lanterns. They are a touch on the unimpressive side – I’d need to have a bike to run a kettle.
I’d call that an at-home and on-road fitness center with built-in break room, if I were marketing it–
It sounds much more attractive when you say it like that, than the version I see in my head.
Well, I try to think what would sell in advertland, and that’s what I came up with–
🙂
Oh, gosh. If it’s not one thing, it’s something else. Hope Julia feels better soon! Sending healing thoughts across the pond.
Thank you, she needs all the help she can get!
So terrible to be in pain! Hope it goes away soon.
Thanks. It’s showing a slight improvement. Hopefully she will avoid overdoing it.
Hope she feels better soon!
Me too, she’s rarely ill, and it doesn’t feel natural. 🙂
Prayers and best wishes!💕
Thank you – I’ll pass it on. 🙂
