A Day Where Needles Play a Big Part

It was a  poor start to the day today. It started late as we had flu jabs booked and I can never concentrate when I have an appointment to attend. At the surgery, they sent us through to the back corridor where we had to sit knee to knee with a line of people waiting for flu jabs.  That’s just what a man with a compromised immune system needs.

Then, for some reason, they decided to use my right arm. I don’t like being awkward but I am having blood tests on Wednesday. My best veins are in my right arm so I wanted to save that for Wednesday. So they changed it to the left arm. Why choose the right arm? It’s the main arm for most people so if you get a reaction or they hit a nerve it’s better in the non-dominant arm.

I then arrived home, after worrying about missing my delivery of injector pens, to find that the delivery hadn’t arrived. I’d negligently booked my delivery and the immunisation on the same day. There was a very small overlap – the delivery window was 9.29 to11.29 and the appointments were 11.35 and 11.37. It takes 10 minutes to get to the surgery. However, they hadn’t arrived by the time we had to leave (cutting it fine). When I got back, they still hadn’t been. Then I had a phone call to tell me they were running late and could be up to three hours late. Three hours late for a two hour slot? I was so relieved I hadn’t missed it that I started laughing. Then I had to reassure the woman on the phone that I wasn’t mad.

That will do for now. It’s already Tuesday morning and I need to get to bed.

The pictures represent a failure in my persuasive skills. Julia, it seems, does not think that one wall of out living room would benefit from a Mexican Revolutionary mural in the style of Diego Riviera.
