It rained several times last night. It was only gentle rain, but after weeks of nothing, it was probably just as well to start gently. Ten minutes later, it is done. I would have liked more, but at least it is a start.
The photo above is our two rusty steel hares – Julia bought it last year and I see from WP that I mentioned it exactly a year ago. The somewhat abstract photo used above (she took it on her camera then cropped it) is a picture of a sunbeam that lit them up during last week’s eclipse.
The next picture is The Girl With the Monet Fixation. I am trying to persuade her to get a Monet tattoo as it would make a good title for a poem.
The picture from the immersive Monet Exhibition/Experience she went to with my sister (who took the photograph).
The second time it rained, the drops were heavier but only lasted for about a minute.
I’m not sure what happened while I was sleeping, but there was a slightly fresher feeling in the air and some evidence of water on the floor. There were damp seams to part of the brick paving ans water shone on a couple of drain covers on the other side of the road. Unfortunately, as the heat builds up (it isn’t even 8.45 yet!) it is becoming humid.
It was another easy journey to wood turning today because the kids are still off school. Give it a couple of weeks and I won’t even be home by this time.

I think “The Girl with the Monet Tattoo” would make a great title for a poem, but I think it has been used before. “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.” Perhaps “The Lady with the Monet Obsession”.
I must start making a list, there are a lot of great titles out there.
We had gentle rain throughout the night
We have just had more gentle rain too. Things are looking promising. 🙂
There are a lot worse fixations to have than Monet.
Sorry, didn’t mean to look like I was correcting your spelling. I just knew which museum you meant and didn’t look at the rest of it. I was so excited at being able to come up with something grown up to say about an art museum . . .
Yes, times have definitely changed. I had a friend who had a father with a tattoo – in the 1970s and 80s, as a sales director, he always had to keep his sleeves rolled down to stop business contacts seeing them.
Nah, I didn’t think you were 😂 But it’s good to get it right. Aye, don’t often get opportunities to chat about art museums. Funny old world, one of my old bosses wouldn’t employ someone because he had two little swallows tattooed on his neck 🤷♂️
Tricky one. Things have changed a lot in the last 20 years regarding tattoos. Remember we have still only had one PM that we know has tattoos (though I did try to start a rumour about Starmer having a Prince Albert).
It was james Callaghan (he was in the Navy in the war) though this website says Churchill did too.

Some people on there that I wouldn’t have expected 😂 I had a look at Churchill, appears the general consensus is he didn’t have one, but his mother Jennie is supposed to have a small snake or serpent on her wrist. Plausible, she was a bit of a girl as I recall 😉
Yes, I knew about George V and had seen that Churchill probably didn’t. I will reprint ana rticle I once did that includes his mother. 🙂
I remember going to the Musee du Orsy and there was a Monet exhibition. There was a piece of something there, wood, i think. It was blue. Apparently it was showing us Monet’s blue. He invented it. This was before microsoft photo edits, so i preumed there was only one blue and probably didn’t give it the credit it deserved. I think a Monet tattoo would look cool. I wanted another tattoo, but Gillian doesn’t think it’s a good idea. It’s a little disparaging of the human race.
My mother always said that I could get a tattoo (like the intertwined cobras on my granddad’s forearms (which he got in the army in India) as long as I didn’t mind being a road sweeper (which he was for much of his life. My parents wanted me to do better. I wish I’d ignored them – so many avenues were closed to me by listening to their well-meant, but useless, advice.
The only time I didn’t listen to them and tried to join the navy fate stepped in and a faint heart murmur was detected, which put them off.
And so I became a chicken farmer because I liked animals and it was the first job that was available. Twelve months later, I hated animals . . .
Sorry, what I meant to say, was that Julia loved it at the Musee d’Orsay – her and my sister took the kids to Eurodisney and manged to fit some culture in too.
That’s why my kids grew up to be well-rounded human beings – break your arm playing rugby and discuss art with you as you wait for the ambulance. 🙂
Aye, how times have changed. My mother burst into tears when I came back from town at 15 years old with a swallow tattoo. In the 90’s you weren’t allowed into some pubs with a visible tattoo. Well meaning parents can be a hindrance, it’s something I missed out 😉
I enjoyed the Musee d’Orsy (thanks for the correct spelling 😂) It was certainly better than Louvre. Sounds like your kids had fun 😂
