It is Sunday breakfast time and the dress code is relaxed. In other words, I haven’t put my trousers on yet. My balance improves as I move around and I find that optimal time for putting on trousers is about half an hour after getting up. In addition, I need to measure them to check the size of a pair of new trousers. You would think that i was easy enough to buy new trousers in he digital age, jus press a button and reorder the ones you had last time. Or the ones you had last time with (possibly) a slightly larger waist. But no, there are always new styles and gaps in the old range. Nothing is simple these days. The current set I am examining have the same size waist as my old ones but the legs are an inch longer and the pockets are almost impossible to unbutton. As the old trousers had legs that were slightly too long, and I have arthritic fingers, neither variation is ideal.
I am now going to put my trousers on and start making breakfast as I can hear Julia moving about. Sunday breakfast usually involves a frying pan and the use of trousers in this scenario makes a great deal of sense.
It will be our healthy vegetarian option with bacon and black pudding garnish. We have some leftover black pudding which is hovering on the edge of perdition and if you have that, you may as well decorate with bacon. Scrambled eggs, toast, tomatoes, beans and mushrooms complete the meal. We have some big mushrooms so I am going to slice them and do them in the frying pans which puts the dark lines on things. There is a chance this breakfast could look quite good, which is more than you can say for the cook.
McDonald’s Breakfast
The first picture is my kind of breakfast. I received two pairs of new trousers for Christmas. Measurements and style were the same as the last pair I bought myself, details of which had been taken by Becky and Flo.
I really must become more organised. The top one is the extinct Little Chef breakfast. It is my favourite too, hence the problem with my waistline.
I eat much less than I did
I really should eat a lot less. In fact I should have started eating less when I stopped doing physical job. Only one person to blame. 🙂
It is hard to find things in the stores these days, and I have sometimes had to shop in the boys department for pants or shoes. Yes, online can be a gamble.
A friend of mine used to buy children’s clothes (he was lot smaller than me) because they weren’t taxed at the same rate. 🙂
Sales tax varies with the individual states over here. In Oregon, we have no sales tax, but do have a state income tax on top of the federal tax. Conversely, my old State of Connecticut had a 6.5% sales tax (way back then), but no state income tax.
Yes, we notice the differences when eBay prepares the sales documentation for different states.
Buying clothes online is a gamble and one that I have lost before now.
Sadly, so have I.
I rarely buy clothes online unless I have just purchased something in person that I love, fits well, and has gone through several washings and has held up. Then I race to the computer to buy several more. At that point, I usually find that the item has been discontinued.
Yes, same here. Or worse, it has been re-cut and doesn’t feel as comfortable. This once happened to me – I’d been wearing a particular brand for years and without warning they changed the fit, making the body part of the trousers sit lower and tighter. Very disappointing.

I went to order my husbands jeans the other day…online they didn’t give length options…ordered two pairs hoping one would be right length…
Yes, they seem to have become less keen on specifying leg lengths in recent years. I have always had the wrong wrong leg to waist ratio over the years – I used to have trouble with trousers being too short when I was thin (believe it or not). Now they are too long on account of the designers thinking my waist measurement belongs to a giant. Time is, as they say, a great wrecker.

I keep the same trousers but I just punch another hole in my belt.
I have a tendency to wear things out. The new trousers are black because Julia wants me to be smart at funerals. All my old ones are baggy, repaired or faded. Or all three. So am I, if I’m honest.
