It has been a restful day today – painkillers overnight, a decent sleep and a morning spent with a hot water bottle. This became an afternoon also spent with a hot water bottle. And cake. It’s been quite good.ย Perhaps I have needed to sit down with a hot water bottle and waste time. It’s far more relaxing than sitting at the computer wasting time.
I’m also beginning to think that the problem with my arm and shoulder is RSI rather than arthritis, which is mainly confined to my fingers.
The moral of this is clear – spend less time at the computer. I do my best writing with pen and paper anyway, I have been trying to do more writing at the computer in recent months, but it hasn’t worked out. I thought it would be more efficient if I sat at the computer and made myself write, which would cut out the boring process of typing stuff out. It hasn’t gone to plan – the only thing that has improved is my command of Othello/Reversi and Nine Men’s Morris. A computer in idle hands, is a dreadful thing.
So, drug abuse, my health, fashionable injuries, procrastination. I seem to have covered a range of subjects, but it all sems very self-centred. How is everyone out there? I will try to get round and do some visiting now, as I’ve not been very good about reading recently.
Having said that I have finally started on one of my pile of books to read. It feels good to be reading again, after spending so much time concentrating on writing. Or, to be more accurate, after spending so much time concentrating on procrastination. Time, I think, to turn over a new leaf.
But is turning a leaf just procrastination?
IT is if I turn them slowly enough! ๐

I hope you find a less painful writing method balance
I’m working on it now. I will probably ponder on it for a while with TV on, a cup of tea by my side and my eyes closed, purely for the purposes of relaxation, you understand…
You may well be right about the RSI. I noticed that my hand had gone a bit funny recently and when I looked at it, I realised that it was permanently taking on the shape of the computer mouse. I try to spread my fingers a bit more now if I remember.
Yes, I think it could well be RSI, too. Itโs amazing how little time sitting at a computer can reduce one to pain and immobility. Even if the chair and said device are set at the correct heights and angles, and letโs face it that probably doesnโt always happen.
Anyway, I hope reading gives you the necessary recuperative break.
I had it once before now I think about it. Less work amd more readingh definitely in order! ๐
Good plan!
๐
I had it ten or fifteen years ago – used a gel pad under my wrist to alter the angles and it seemed to go away.
I should try that.
I am currently using a hot water bottle in place of a pad. ๐
Clever.
It is fortunate that I am more than just a pretty face. As Julia points out, one day my looks will fade but brains are always useful. (People who have not seen a photo of me may not appreciate the irony of her remarks). ๐
Looks are just the label on the jar. It is what is inside that counts.
I might print that out for her… ๐
Hope the pain goes away soon!
Doing pretty well. Have begun doing yard work. Hope the pain goes away soon!

I am fine, still waking up on the correct side of the ground. ๐
