We had an interesting conversation after I picked Julia up from work yesterday.
“I’ve bought steak for tea.” I said.
“I thought we were going to have that for our anniversary.” she said.
This was news to me as I thought that I’d had the idea all on my own. She has probably been using mind control techniques to manipulate my weak and feeble man’s mind.
“I thought we’d have it early, as part of a longer celebration.”
“You’ve forgotten when it is, haven’t you?”
“No I haven’t. It’s later this week.I just thought I’d prolong the joyous celebration.”
She wasn’t convinced and went on to narrow it down and corner me like a rat in a trap. It isn’t fair, I can’t drive through traffic, talk and lie convincingly at the same time.
It’s today. This time next year I am going to search “wedding anniversary” and check the date. WP may yet prove to be good for something apart from blogging and providing shoddy “improved” services.
Thirty one years. Where have they all gone?

The pictures are from Huttoft beach car park on our last (and only) trip to the coast this year. It’s just a long concrete strip of parked cars and a stretch of beach. Very old-fashioned and very relaxing, particularly when trying to avoid social contact.

Glad your anniversary prompted you to use photos from your one trip to the coast this year. At least the beach didn’t look crowded!

Happy 31st anniversary, Simon and Julia! Wishing you both many more years to celebrate, and hopefully times will be better. 2020 has been one hell of a year. You can always have steak several days in a row… 🙂
At one time I’d have loved to eat steak for several days, but I’m not sure I could do it now – I’m adjusting to a more vegetarian lifestyle. 🙂

We could run something like younger version of Men in Sheds. Instead of keeping occupied, healthy and doing good in the community we could sit round drinking tea, building a spud gun cannon and plotting the end of …er…everything.

Sounds like an excellent post to me, and a great title for a book – a 21st century take on “Last of the Summer Wine”. However, it would be foolish to suggest that you did it as the consequences, as we know, would be immediate and dreadful. 🙂

About twenty years ago I did start planning, but had nowhere to fire it so let the idea lapse.

I’m amazed that I’ve been married so long, I must be honest.
I know that feeling. We may have our faults but being chosen by the right person is obviously one of our strengths.

Back in May we sent a birthday card for a 4-year-old to a child on who was 5.
I imagine the stress was placed on the error rather than the beautiful gesture of remembering the birthday. 🙂
