Harlow Carr is the Royal Horticultural Society Garden just outside Harrogate, a town which is home to Betty’s Tea Room and a Sainsbury’s supermarket that has a sushi bar. In Yorkshire the only dead fish you normally see has been fried in batter.
Just a few photos for now.

Beautiful pictures – we’re sitting in the snow over here. Good to see Julia!
Hope you don’t have long to wait until spring. 🙂
Me too! It’s fascinating to see how different my blogger friends’ climates are.
It certainly is.
It’s a couple or years or so since I last went to Harlow Carr. Nice therefore to see your photos. The statue of the worm (?) made me smile.
It has feet so I think it’s a caterpillar. Put it down to poor photography. 🙂
No 😊
🙂
Those are great photos from Harlow Carr. Looking forward to the scone report, too!
Scone report Ten is under preparation.
I need more exercise…
The sultana scone looks promising. We need to know whether it lived up to the promise.
I’m working on it now. 🙂
Very nice photos – I like the caterpillar! Betty’s cakes might be a little over-rated. A cousin of mine sends my mother Betty’s mince pies every Christmas; okay but nothing special.
Without giving too much away, I agree.
Lovely pictures of Julia and the flowers. I’ve been to Harrogate AND Betty’s. Yum!!!!
🙂
I didn’t know you had been over there, Laurie!
I was surprised – I always thought of her as a lobster roll sort of girl. 🙂
When I was in my late twenties, I stayed in North Yorkshire for three weeks. Oh, how I loved it!
Good to hear. 🙂
Look forward to the scone report… Harlow Carr is lovely – ABAB’s take on it here, if you’re interested http://bitaboutbritain.com/harlow-carr/ I confess to never having heard of it until I was bullied into visiting 🙂
🙂 I bought Julia the membership for Christmas – this is the first time we have used it.
Liked your review of the gardens, despite your overly-cheerful Pollyanna approach. 🙂
That made me laugh – we never have to worry about an overly cheerful Quercus.
The modern insistence on cheerfulness is an example of how change and progress are different things.
That looks like a very posh scone, I look forward to your review!
I’m struggling to keep up! 🙂
Been the York Betty’s tea room.
I knew of them but had never been until now. 🙂
Fine quotation and excellent gallery. With a sultana scone you should be onto a winner
I really must start the scone reviews…
