Day 82

It started so well, as I often say. I found the last parking space, and watched as the driver got out of the car that had parked just before me. She was wearing scrubs and a name badge, so the “No Staff” part of the car park sign is still working well (he said sarcastically).

The blood flowed well and took just one try. I had the results by 11.00 – I was a little low but they have adjusted the dose by half a pill a week and given me two weeks before the next test. I’m happy with that.

Julia accomplished her errands safely, despite being forced off the footpath and onto the road by an elderly gent riding his bicycle furiously along the footpath and ringing his bell to make her clear out of his way. Later on her travels she saw him at it again on his return journey.

For lunch we had avocados prepared two ways, as they say on cookery programmes. I had mine with prawns and Julia had hers with eggs. I’ve never seen egg as a natural accompaniment to avocado. To make it worse, she has soft yolks, something I have never liked. We then had chocolate and caramel brownies, which she had bought while she was out.

Of course, that then called for a nap, which became slightly longer than anticipated, and I am now writing this and wondering where my afternoon has gone.

Time for a nice cup of tea now and time to get some writing done.

As I say, it started so well . . .

The picture is Orton Mere in March 2017. Where does the time go?

“where does the time go?” Well, it has seemed as I get older, way too fast. And really, the seven days/week sounds like a long time, but the calendar seems to be filling rather fast on the “done” side!

This is SO true! I do payroll for my clients and there are 26 per year. I keep track of them by number and it terrifies how I just started with #1 and I am at #7 already.

These elderly gentlemen on bikes are real pests. There should be a law against them. But then motorists keep shouting at them to get off the road and use paths . . it is a hard life. I had to slow down to 2mph and politely ask pedestrians to let me through today. They were taking up the whole of a bike path with no room for anyone to overtake them.

Pedestrians shouldn’t walk on cycle paths, so your actions seem perfectly reasonable.

However, Julia was on a narrow footpath and had to step into the road. There is, I believe, already a law against this. It’s all part of the breakdown in society. Regardless of the law it’s simply bad manners ringing your bell to force a pedestrian off a footpath.

I now think that cyclists on pavements are malefactors and that pedestrians taking up all of a shared path are miscreants. Motorists are generally both.

Tricky. A motorist driving on the pavement is definitely a malefactor, but if they take up the whole of a shared path it isn’t really a matter of choice, as it is with a group of pedestrians, as the car is a set width. For that reason I think I may have to be slightly more charitable and merely class them as malefactors.
