Yesterday it was suggested that a post full of Robins wouldn’t go amiss. I need something cheerful to post, and people like Robins. I can’t do an arty montage because I’m still using the Stone Age editor so it will just be a dull stack of Robins.
I won’t use that to start a discussion on the evils of WordPress, because I am better than that.
Nor will it be a discourse on double standards in politics. It’s tempting, as I watch Kier Starmer struggle to condemn the Bristol riots whilst telling us that the London riots were fully justified. With such admirable flexibility of spine, and such a wide range of standards the man clearly has a great future in politics.

And so we come to the end, and as I can here my lunch sizzling in the oven (it’s leftover pasta bake from last week) this is probably a good time to stop. I am not pleased with the WP move towards using a phone app (I hate that word). It is all the same with other platforms. I tried to post a photo on Instagram that my daughter set up for me. It is clear the instructions are only for use on a mobile phone. There is a complicated set of instructions on Google but even when I followed them it wouldn’t work.
many things seem to be moving to apps. My first problem with them id that I have not yet linked my phone to th eineternet as I don’t need to. The second problem is the size of the screen. Then we move on to the real problems…

I am not sure that you are being entirely fair to Mr Starmer. It is quite possible to have two strong and completely conflicting opinions at the same time about the protests by women in London. Life is not binary even though journalists and many politicians would like us to think that it is.
I am unfair. So is life. According to his register of interests Starmer is paid up to £400 an hour for his opinions. I struggle to give mine away. Where, I ask, is the fairness in that?
He has to put up with a lot of people saying how crap he is. That’s the downside.
There are many downsides to being a politician but nobody forces them into it. I really don’t think that my view is going to alter his life or career. 🙂
On the other hand we do need politicians as the alternative is being run by a mad dictator and his/her family and business acquaintances…..Ooops, I see that that may be happening here even with lots of politicians hanging about.
I was thinking of his father only yesterday, in relation to fines and flights that aren’t necessary.

It’s 39 degrees and raining here, and I thoroughly enjoyed this early morning cheery post full of European robins, Erithacus rubecula! Our own American robin is Turdus migratorius, and looks more like one of your blackbirds with a ruddy chest, and is considerably bigger than the European robin. The robin stamps are beautiful, too.
It kept my mind off other things. 🙂
I’m not sure what your beef with WP is overall. I love it – maybe because on the phone app it’s more straightforward, even if there are fewer options.
Anyway, the robins are cute, cute, cute. I wasn’t aware of the robin stamps prior to your post.
I tend not to take much notice of politicians. They are not cute and I’m not a fan of mendacity.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Those European robins are so sweet. I will try to get a picture of our robins. Nowhere near as cute, but lovely in their own way.
They don’t seem to get as much coverage as Cardinals, Blue Jays and Humming Birds, it is true.
Not as flashy, that’s for sure.
I have two Robins in my allotment at the moment. I know you are only supposed to have one so I am assuming one is visiting or that its time for making baby robins. They seem to get on ok and enjoy eating the bugs and worms that pop up when I am digging. Also happy to pose for photos 🙂
If they aren’t fighting I suspect you are right about the baby robins. Robin photos are always good. Try leaving an inviting fork handle sticking up and see if you can get one of the iconic “robin on fork handle” shots.
