Another day in the procession of days. I really shouldn’t complain, because days are a limited resource and I need to make the most of them. I did a calculation a few months ago, If I live to be as old as my Dad, which I won’t, I have about 11,000 days left. I expect that with one thing and another, including dementia, I will manage about 7,500.
It seems like a lot but I have a feeling that once you start counting down, the total will reduce quite quickly. However, 7,500 is still quite a long time. I’ll just have to stop sleeping in front of the TV to make sure I maximise my remaining time.
I’ve worked out a new dieting technique – having Emmenthal in my sandwiches. It stands to reason that cheese with holes in it must have fewer calories than cheese without.
That’s about it. I didn’t do much today and I left my camera at work so I can’t transfer any photos from last week. The photo is from a few weeks ago but it’s a good general purpose summer photo.
Tomorrow I will try to do better.
A rather gloomy calculation. I prefer to imagine that I will live forever (as long as i can avoid falling off my bike again). I like the cheese calculation but like you, I find the call of other cheeses irresistible.
I might calculate it again, but using cheese sandwiches as the unit of measurement.
That photo is a beauty. Love all the colors and all the lines.
A sensibly thought about Emmenthal. At the moment we daren’t open our fridge for the delicious smell of ripe Camembert, which I believe has less calories than a hard cheese. As I write, I hear “bloody cheese” emanating from the kitchen, as the fridge door opens.
Unfortunately I’m banned from possessing soft French cheese after an unfortunate incident at Christmas 2017.
I feel like there is a story there that I need to hear.
I will write it as a post, as several people seem to want to hear it. 🙂
Do tell
I will do it as a post, as several people want to know.
Derrick, I figured there would be quite a few leftovers. I can eat for a week on leftovers.
🙂
Good to hear Camembert has fewer calories. However, I usually have trouble not eating the whole round in one go!
That’s also a good plan – if you don’t eat it all and it gets left at the back of the fridge the consequences can be unpleasant.
😀 I would never, ever leave any Camembert!
Good plan. I avoids problems.
🙂
Have you tried cheese with reduced fat content? Tesco does a mature cheddar with 30% reduced fat and it actually tastes like normal.
Anyway, having hit a milestone year this spring, I am starting to feel my mortality, too. So much to do and so little time but sleeping in front of the TV can be so nice.
I have tried the cheese, and you are right that it does taste good. However, my failing memory does lead me into buying many other delicious varieties of cheese.
Good luck with the birthday. 😉
Thank you!
There are definitely many wonderful cheeses out there.
🙂
