I won the lottery today, or, to be more accurate, I remembered to check my two-week-old ticket, and promptly invested the win in two more tickets. I even have 30 pence left over to treat Julia. I may buy her a stamp.
If tonight’s ticket comes up I will buy her some flowers to go with it. However, based on past experience, I won’t win tomorrow. I rarely win, which is probably part of the definition of lottery – losers buying tickets in the hope of solving life’s problems.
I may buy some flowers even if I lose, because I had a reasonably successful day at auction yesterday and have to explain why we will be eating a lot of plain, meat-free food for the rest of the month.
In work terms it was a dull day, just four parcels to send and a pile of coins and low grade medallions to enter on eBay.
I would show you some pictures, but I left the camera at work, so there won’t be any photos until tomorrow.
There are some interesting developments in the garden at the moment with Great Tits (as per header picture) and blue tits being engaged in unseemly behaviour with much calling and fluttering. They have also been seen with feathers and moss in their beaks. We expect that several nestboxes will be occupied in the next couple of weeks.
I have never bought a lottery ticket though I’m often tempted to buy a Euromillions one. I’m glad you had a good day at the auction; meat-free meals for a couple of weeks are fine. Dull meat-free ones, not so fine.
If I’m in charge of seasoning there will be plenty of flavour. 🙂

I have had big wins from the lottery but only in terms of getting grants from them. I buy tickets out of gratitude even though i know they take lots of my ticket money for themselves before handing any of it out. And one day I won £14 (and spent it all on losing tickets.)
A good way of looking at it. I’m an intermittent buyer of tickets and twice won around £60 on the Christmas draws, which I shared with the family in the spirit of Christmas. We had several grants for junior rugby so I’m sure I’ve had my money back. 🙂

‘Tis the season for unseemly behavior. Your Great Tits (that made me giggle) look like a yellow version of our Chickadees. We have a Titmouse (also hilarious) which looks like a small gray cardinal (with the fancy hat). I don’t know why I am always fascinated by our differences and similarities, but I am.
Until the early part of the 20th century our tits were called titmice. I’m not sure why the name was shortened. I hadn’t heard of the American titmouse before, but just looked it up – quite an smart little bird.
Aren’t they cute? But nothing like yours.

I’ve only bought lottery tickets once – a set of five with a bonus one for Jessica’s Christmas stocking. If I remember rightly that amounts to 30 numbers. Not one came up
It’s probably for the best – I was in asyndicate once and stopped when I worked out that each £10 win was costing us £60!
