I cut out the middle man this week and went straight to the Phlebotomy Department at City Hospital. They looked at my veins, stuck a needle in the more promising one, drew the blood and sent me away.
It only took nineteen minutes from entering the car park to leaving.
I know this because it says so on my car parking receipt. If I’d been there fifteen minutes the parking would have been free.Instead, I paid £2 to park for four minutes.
So, am I happy because they took the sample first time? Am I glad I was seen free of charge, quickly and efficiently? Am I pleased that I was able to get the test done and still get to work on time?
Of course not. I’m complaining that it all took four minutes too long and cost me £2.
That’s life.
You make my day!
And that comment has brightened mine. Thank you.
I’m a huge fan of complaining….having to pay to get a needle stuck in your arm? Ruthless
🙂 Indeed.
Life is like that. 😉

Hospital parking charges are an abomination
I think that is a very good word for them.
Because of those car parking fees, the streets around the City Hospital are jammed with the parked cars of employees, patient and visitors from around 7 am to 5 pm. If you have people working on your house, builders, painters etc, you will have to make special arrangements for them to park their vehicle. There is no way that you will find a parking space in your own street because of the parking fee dodgers. And yes, vandalism to their cars and violence to their drivers have occurred on a number of occasions.
Yes, in the days when I could walk better I’ve parked in the street and walked in to the hospital rather than look for a space in the hospital car parks, which are nearly always full despite the cost.
Norfolk and Norwich hospital lets me park free for half an hour and then charges me £5. I can only ever remember getting free parking once in nearly thirty years. How pleasant it is to see a proficient phlebotomist!
Half an hour would do for a blood test, but it’s not much use for a proper appointment. 🙂
Yes, lovely to get one puncture and be released. 🙂
Half hour should be okay but the distance between carpark and Phlebotomy lab is quite far and if there is a queue….. 😮
I was lucky – got one of the last two spaces in the nearest car park. 🙂
Bloody life eh?
Nice to keep in practice complaining. 🙂
