Finally, it arrived.
It wasn’t impressive.
We have some snow left in the street, where it will be a patchy nuisance until it melts, but all the main roads are clear. Driving into town to pick up Julia at 4.00 pm it was quite clear that the centre of town was warmer than Sherwood as there was nothing on the floor at all, not even the narrow road at the back of the leisure centre.
The bad news is that we’re meant to be down to minus 12 degrees C tomorrow. That’s minus 10.4 degrees F. We will be as cold as northern Scotland, which, the news tells me, is colder than Everest.
Based on the accuracy of previous forecasts that will probably be a few degrees under freezing.
Number Two son has just been out for a walk and says it isn’t too bad. He arrived home by train this afternoon and says Sheffield has even less snow than Nottingham.
All in all, it’s a very unsnowy day round here, though news reports do show that there is plenty of snow locally. Looks like we dodged the bullet.
Though it may be a bit early, as their is time for snow yet, I will permit myself a small smile. π
No snow in my area, yet. We don’t get a lot at this elevation, being on the western side of the Cascades.
That’s good. I’d imagined you’d have more snow with being near mountains. My grasp of weather in the USA seems to be faulty. π
Snow reports go by elevation here in my area. Western Oregon has much milder weather than the high desert east of the Cascade Range
I live and learn. Earlier this week I learned they had snow in Nevada and now I find you have a high desert. π
We had a couple of inches of wet snow yesterday which disappeared from the roads quite quickly but remained in the fields and another couple of inches of the same sloppy stuff again today which has mainly melted again. It is meant to freeze again tonight π
Annoying isn’t it? Why can’t we have it all at once and get over it?
π
I’ve been all over Nottinghamshire the past 2 days and its hardly newsworthy although the BBC have been relentless in their reporting…
π Which just goes to show you shouldn’t trust the news.
I do hope you will not be that cold
Same here – though I suspect they have used the worse case scenario of a wind-blasted hill in the Peaks for that prediction. π
How is your weather doing?
Still just above freezing. No snow.
That’s life on the Hampshire Riviera for you. Hope it stays that way. π

Minus 12!! It is apparently minus 2 here but such beautiful sunshine π. It would have been nice to have some real snow but the dusting is pretty – glad I haven’t had to get up early and de-ice the car, though.
Another light fall overnight – just enough to freeze on the windscreen. Minus half a degree but no sun. π
Shame π
That’s life. π
Enough snow for a total collapse of everything though, with the possibility of zombie snowmen in the streets.
I see the Highways Agency is blaming a lack of cars for the motorway problems. All those selfish drivers who did as the police suggested and stayed at home are therefore to blame. Those zombies are getting closer…
We haven’t even had a flake.
That seems against the natural order of things. π
We had some snow too–a couple inches–it snowed all day yesterday, but was fine, and since it had been warm, it mostly melted. It was lovely and no streets were affected, well, except at night, when it was apparently a bit icy. Glad your trip to town was a good one! I don’t envy you that cold. Ugh.
Sounds like ideal weather – snows, looks decorative then goes. π
